This Privacy Policy describes how uNotes with AI ("the Extension"), developed by Cheng Be, handles your information.

1. Data Storage and Privacy

The Extension is designed with a "local-first" architecture. All notes, text, and custom prompts you create are stored exclusively on your local device using your browser's local storage (chrome.storage.local). The developer of this Extension does not have access to your notes, API keys, or personal data. No data is collected, logged, or transmitted to the developer’s servers.

2. Synchronized Settings

If you choose to log into your Google Chrome browser and enable sync, non-sensitive preferences (such as your chosen AI provider) and your API keys are stored using chrome.storage.sync. This allows your credentials to securely follow you across your own devices. This data remains within your personal Google account infrastructure.

3. Third-Party Services

The Extension allows you to connect to third-party AI services (Google Gemini or OpenAI) using your personal API keys.

• When you click the "AI Assist" button, the text currently in your active note, along with your selected prompt, is sent directly to your chosen provider via their API.
• The Extension does not send your data to these services automatically; transmission only occurs upon your explicit request.
• Data handled by these third parties is governed by their respective privacy policies.

4. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by an updated "Effective Date" at the top of this document.
